Electricians in Leeds
Lights that flicker, sockets that have gone dead, a fuse board that still has the old wire fuses, or a landlord's electrical report due before the next tenancy. Electrics are the one trade where cutting corners is genuinely dangerous, so it is done properly or not at all.
Electrical work can be quoted on its own or as part of a bigger job, so the wiring for an extension or a new kitchen sits on the same quote as the build.
Scope of work
- Full and partial rewires
- Consumer unit (fuse board) upgrades
- EICR safety reports for landlords and buyers
- Extra sockets, lighting and outdoor power
- EV charger installation
- Fault finding on tripping circuits
- Wiring for extensions, kitchens and bathrooms
When to get the electrics checked
- The board trips and will not reset, or keeps tripping
- Sockets or switches that are warm, scorched or crackling
- An old fuse box with rewireable fuses
- Rubber or fabric-covered cable, which points to very old wiring
How the job is handled
Notifiable work, such as a new circuit, a consumer unit change or anything in a bathroom, is certified under the Building Regulations, and the certificate is handed over when the job is finished.
Where an EICR finds problems, the report sets out what is urgent and what is advisory. Remedial work is quoted separately so you can decide what to do and when.
In Leeds
A lot of Leeds rented property, especially the back-to-backs and through-terraces round Hyde Park, Burley and Beeston, has wiring that has been added to over decades. Private landlords in England have had to get the electrics inspected at least every five years since 2020.

How often does a rental property need an EICR?
In England, private landlords must have the electrical installation inspected and tested at least every five years and give tenants a copy of the report. A new report is needed sooner if the last one asks for an earlier retest.
How long does a rewire take?
It depends on the size of the house and whether you are living in it during the work. The survey gives you a realistic number of days, and the plastering and decorating afterwards can go on the same quote.
Can you fit an EV charger?
Yes. The survey checks the supply, the fuse board and the cable route to where the car is parked before the charger is priced.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes. Notifiable work is certified, and the paperwork is handed over once the installation has been tested and the job is complete.
